Inscription on rear face of drinking fountain: PRESENTED TO THIS CITY H MAYNARD ESQ 13TH MAY 1861 The crest is the Maynard Family Crest and the Latin text, MANUS JUSTA NARDUS, translates as 'the just hand is a precious ointment'.
