The original church may date from 1908 but in its present emanation it is the work of the Italian Prisoners of War (Second World War). It is plastered and styled in early Italian baroque, hence giving it a Cape Dutch revival appearance, with its scrolled central gables, pilasters and symmetrically flanking tall square towers.
