"This once proud building has lost much of its Victorian charm but stands as a reminder of the early days after the recognition of the Afrikaans Language as a new African language in 1875. Fervent supporters started producing Afrikaans literature and a printing press, D.F. du Toit & Co, was established here where "Die Patriot" newspaper and later, the Paarl Post were published."
