Located south of Irene on the line to Olifantsfontein. Originally designed as a plate girder bridge of 15m span, when the Wierda Bridge over the same river was damaged by flooding the span was redesigned for 25m with a parabolic bow-string steel superstructure, manufactured in Germany and imported though Durban and transported in sections by ox-wagon via Charlestown and assembled on site. It was demolished on 1900 05 31 by Boer forces in retreat. It has been later been replaced along a realignment on the opposite side of the road.
