This former stately homestead, now a luxury hotel, altered and refurbished by MARK THOMAS ARCHITECTS.

“A super-luxury boutique hotel in Bantry Bay, I have been involved in work there since inception of the hotel in the early 90’s. Ellerman House is an establishment that stands for the highest quality; I have spent an enormous amount of time (starting with a large structural terrace) working on improvements and developments to this fine old lady.” (MARK THOMAS ARCHITECTS website, accessed 2020 10 12)

Originally built in 1906 as Florida House, it was later named after shipping magnate Sir John Ellerman, who purchased it and resided there for a significant period.

The property was converted into a luxury boutique hotel in 1992, renowned for its extensive collection of South African art.
