The first bank to be built in Luderitz. Built in 1907 in German colonial style. Today, the building houses NEDBANK. Proclaimed a National Monument on 7 Feb. 1980 by the National Monuments Council of South Africa. Transcription of the English section of the trilingual Heritage Plaque: THE DEUTSCHE AFRIKA BANK BUILDING THIS BUILDING IN THE GERMAN COLONIAL STYLE WAS BUILT IN l907 BY THE CONTRACTOR A. BAUSE. IT IS THE FIRST BANK BUILDING ERECTED IN LUDERITZ.
