Of the 453 inhabitants who died in the Merebank Concentration Camp,
412 were buried in this cemetry, including seven people of colour.
Those who died after the declaration of peace
as well as the people of colour are not honoured on the monument.
Of those buried here,
358 were children under the age of 12.
