See more photographs UPDATE: The Afrikaans newspaper Die Burger reported on 22 May 2025 (p.4) that the Kouga municipal council had decided to demolish the building, which was now derelict. It had been standing empty since November 2020. A section was razed by a fire in 2021, and a year later a second fire destroyed another larger section. Both fires were thought to have been started by squatters in the building. The replacement cost was estimated at R25 million. The municipality decided to rather demolish the building, which had become unstable and was a safety risk. The municipality planned to redevelop the site for a different purpose, possibly as a higher education facility.
