Also referred to as Ye Olde Thatched Tavern.

Walker states that the 1899 upgrades are unknown as the plans were mislaid.

It was demolished c1968 together with the adjacent original Cape Argus Building and both replaced by an extension of the 1930s Argus Newspaper Co building.
