See more photographs The last of Thomas Bain's pass constructions, of which his contemporary William Grier, Chief Inspector of Roads in the Cape Province said ''... A work of bold conception ..., a heavy and difficult task to carry out and one which reflects great credit on Mr Bain for the ingenious manner in which he over-came the physical difficulties he met with.''
