A work of bold conception ..., a heavy and difficult task to carry out and one which reflects great credit on Mr Bain for the ingenious manner in which he over-came the physical difficulties he met with.'' In its years of operation, although it summits at 1 583 m, it has only been closed for some few days because of snow.
