2018: The building now houses Transnet offices. Pirow was at one time Minister of Justice and then of Defence in the National Party Government. According to Wikipedia he founded the South African Airways. German born, he was a Nazi sympathizer which eventually led to a break with Prime Minister DF Malan. There is presently a proposal to rename Oswald Pirow Street in Cape Town as Christiaan Barnard Street. See Wikipedia for a full history.
