ACOUSTIC CEILING Economic and Management Sciences Building, University of Pretoria 1991 This panel is a good example of the functional and decorative possibilities offered by plastered gypsum board. A timber framework is fixed to the concrete floor slab, clad with 12,7 mm gypsum board, the corners reinforced with scrim, and the whole finished with gypsum plaster. The acoustic absorption (necessary in a space with hard finishes) is supplied by mineral wool on black shade netting on a white polystyrene grating. In the middle of the panel is a sunken light fitting. The 600 x 600 mm grating is laid out to re-use the off-cut. Grating pieces are assembled by means of pop rivets. 'n Hout raamwerk is aan die betonblad bevestig, met 12,7 mm dik gipsbord beklee, die hoeke versterk met pleisterdoek, en die geheel met gipspleister afgewerk. Die akoestiese absorpsie (nodig in 'n ruimte met harde afwerkings) word verskaf deur mineraalwol op swart skadunet op 'n wit polistireen roosterpaneel. In die middel van die paneel is 'n versonke ligarmatuur. Die 600 x 600 mm rooster is uitgelê om die afvalstuk te hergebruik. Die stukke is met treknaels aanmekaargeheg.
