Also referred to as WOLFE BARRY, John.

Son of the well-known English architect, Sir Charles Barry, John Wolfe Barry practised as a civil engineer. He received his education at Glenalmond College in Scotland and at King's College, London. Barry's connection with South Africa was in a civil engineering capacity when he was responsible for the design of and was acting engineer for the 'Natal Harbour' at Durban. He was elected an Honourary Associate member of the RIBA in 1877.
