BARR, PercyBorn: ?
Died: 1893 01 ?
Barr was probably born and trained in Britain; he arrived in Natal in 1886 or in 1887. From 1888 to 1893 he was in partnership in Durban with W STREET-WILSON in Pietermaritzburg and Durban (cf. STREET-WILSON & BARR). Hillebrand points out that Barr died as a young man, five months before the opening of Pietermaritzburg Town Hall (June 1893) which he had designed. It is of peripheral interest perhaps to note that Barr married the daughter of SH Stott, related to the architect CH STOTT. (Hillebrand 1975; NAD MSCE 13343/1928 (wife's death certificate). Although Barr's death certificate is listed in the Natal Rolls (MSCE 12/1893 MC, it has not been found).
