When Barker registered with the Institute of South African Architects in 1927 his address was c/o the Administrator's Office, Cape Town. He appears to have left to work in Johannesburg where he was from about 1928. In Cape Town he lived at Wellesley, Park Road in Rondebosch. ISAA 1927.
