Tier who was listed in the 1890 and 1894 Argus Annuals under the heading of "carpenters, joiners and builders" in Claremont. He was evidently Alfred Tier (1854-1931) of Newlands, who was described on his marriage certificate (1883) as a builder, and on his death certificate (1931) as a carpenter. CH TIER may have been his elder brother. Someone of that name was a witness at Alfred's wedding at St Saviour's Church in Claremont.
