Born in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. Trained in the building industry. Arrived in Pretoria in 1938. He set up as a contractor for approximately 25 years. He served on the Executive of the local Master Builders Association. He was responsible for the construction of, amongst others, Nederduitse Gereformeerde Kerk, Brondal; Nederduitse Gereformeerde Kerk, Waverley; Homes Trust Building, Pretoria; Majella Hotel, Pretoria. On the campus of the University of Pretoria he was responsible for the Nuclear Reactor Building, the Kanseliersgebou, and the extension of the Merensky Library. He was killed when knocked down by a motorcycle in Pretoria Road while evangelizing. List of projects With photographs With notes
