HENDRIKZ, Willem de Sanderes

Artist


Willem de Sanderes Hendrikz started his studies in architecture at the University of the Witwatersrand, he moved over to art and was a lecturer in Fine Art at the University of the Witwatersrand and later a full time sculptor. Was a teacher at the University of the Witwatersrand School of Architecture in 1933.

He was responsible for the brass doors of the Bank of Netherlands, Pretoria by Eaton. He was a noted artist for the embellishment of buildings and did many bas relief panels for banks, building societies etc.

He committed suicide.
