Johan Swart holds a professional degree in architecture and a second master's degree relating to architecture and World Heritage studies. He is a full time lecturer at the University of Pretoria where he teaches history, conservation and design, as well as being involved with digital archiving projects and heritage related fieldwork. Swart is pursuing his doctoral studies in the field of cultural heritage and is actively involved with local and international research projects in this discipline.
