BArch 2004 (Witwatersrand)
2014 - Partner in the practice ARCHITECTS OF JUSTICE.
Kuba Granicki was born in Poland and replanted into South African soil a few days short of his sixth birthday. Looking back one can be certain that growing up in a transitioning country that was still formulating its own identity, while being raised in a language and culture that was foreign to this new environment, influenced and moulded Kuba a little differently. Interests in literature, art, photography and sculpture were prevalent in his formative years. Technical drawing and construction were a natural part of life due to his father being a dedicated engineer.
Kuba completed his architectural studies at the University of the Witwatersrand in 2004. His final year thesis was a multidenominational crematorium.
After graduating he worked at several architectural firms, along with Mike RASSMANN and Alessio LACOVIG, before starting ZEITGEIST ARCHITECTURE. ZEITGEIST had a healthy run for three years prior to being robbed and put out of business overnight.
Following this a two year foray, into joinery and shop fitting, developed his skills in furniture design, alternate materials and assembly techniques. This process of manufacture, and making, reawakened his love of the big and permanent that architecture offers, and ultimately lead him to co-founding ARCHITECTS OF JUSTICE (AOJ) with Alessio Lacovig and Mike Rassmann in 2009.
In addition to being an integral part of AOJ, Kuba is currently Convenor fo Professional Practice and the Gauteng Institute of Architecture, A position he has held since 2008.
