BArch 2003 (Witwatersrand)
2014 - Partner in the practice ARCHITECTS OF JUSTICE.
Mike Rassmann graduated with a BArch degree from the University of the Witwatersrand Architecture School in 2003. His final year thesis, titled Skatescape, was centred on the skateboard as a tool for reimagining the city and its architecture, a subject that he is still passionate about.
Following graduation he worked for LESLIE PON ARCHITECTS, together with Kuba GRANICKI, followed by GIANNINI LOIZOS ARCHITECTS, alongside Alessio LACOVIG, until moving over to ARCHITECTS OF JUSTICE (AOJ) in late 2011, which he, Kuba and Alessio had founded in 2009.
While working at LESLIE PON ARCHITECTS and GIANNINI LOIZOS ARCHITECTS Mike attended several, project management, property law and building contract oriented courses at the University of the Witwatersrand giving him a solid understanding of the building industry.
He is also actively involved in snowboarding in South Africa and has contributed greatly to the sport locally by documenting it through film between 2005 and 2011. The skills he acquired from this documenting have been incorporated into the AOJ skill set where Mike documents chosen projects on film.
Furthermore Mike has a keen interest in industrial design and over the past few years has designed, had manufactured and self made a number of household items, using various mediums.
