Educated at the German School, Johannesburg, graduated from the University of the Witwatersrand with the BSc Eng degree. Joined CONCOR CONSTRUCTION in 1949 as a civil engineer. Appointed as alternative director in 1957 and in 1962 as Managing Director of Concor. He was a member and served as Chairman of the German Club in Edenvale.
