ELLISON, Thomas WBorn: fl. 1898
Listed working as an architect in Kimberley in 1898-1899, Ellison appears to have moved to Bloemfontein in the late 1890s where he worked until at least 1901. He appears to have worked for the PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT in Bloemfontein before the Anglo-Boer War. According to Schoeman (1982:107), he worked in conjunction with DE WENTINK in the Public Works Department but became impatient of Wentink's habit of handing him his own private work for execution. Ellison seems to have left the Department and his career after 1901 is obscure. (Bloemfontein dir 1901; General dir of SA 1898-99; Schoeman 1982)
