| | DYER, Cyril HamiltonBorn: 1872 12 13 Died: 1920 06 15Architect |
LRIBA, Bloemfontein 1912
Worked in Bloemfontein from about 1900 until 1920; he was an Englishman, educated at St Olave's Grammar School, London and articled in London to Charles H Flack of Bedford Row. He settled in Bloemfontein in May 1900 and opened a practice there. He married Elizabeth Adelaide Angus (b.1878) on 24 Sept 1903. Their marriage certificate gives his profession as Architect and his address as Fickhardt St, Bloemfontein. Their son John Allan Hamilton Dyer was baptised in Bloemfontein on 10 July 1912.
In 1912 Dyer was elected a Licentiate member of the RIBA, his nomination papers stated he had been a principal for not less than ten years, the papers being witnessed by his then assistant, RH SHAW. Few buildings by him have so far been recorded, and those all before 1905. His career after 1912 is currently obscure. He died in Bloemfontein on 15 June 1920 and was buried in the Memoriam Rd Cemetery, Bloemfontein.
