Son of E le R Aitchison. He also did studies at the Pretoria Technical College. He married Elaine Mavis Cox in 1951 09 29 with whom he had a son and a daughter. By 1959 he was practicing from the Richelieu Chambers (Suite 1, Floor 2), Bok Steet, Welkom, Orange Free State, where he is still recorded in 1969. By 1963 he was director of Demos Buildings (Pty) Ltd, Zylson (Pty) Ltd, Welkom Acceptance Company and Billy (Pty) Ltd.
