Was born in Scotland. By 1927 he was working in South Africa, a registered member of the Institute of South African Architects. By 1935/1936 he was working in the Town Engineer's Department in Middleburg, Transvaal and by 1938 had been appointed clerk of works for the Transvaal Provincial Administration. He was an Inspector of Buildings for both the Public Works Department and the Transvaal Provincial Authority. ISAA 1927.
