PINFOLD, Carl

Architect

CertArch. (Cape Town). Carl PINFOLD was married to the architect E M (Betty) SPENCE. They became temporary full-time Lecturers in Architecture at the University of the Witwatersrand in 1948 and 1945 respectively and served in this capacity until 1958. C PINFOLD was the only non-Wits graduate on the staff at the time. In 1959 his address was 16, Windeena Avenue, Pine Park, Johannesburg.

In that same year he and his wife with their children fled to the UK as political exiles.

Following a brief period in London, the family settled in Liverpool, where Carl obtained a doctorate in architectural acoustics at the University of Liverpool.
