DipArch (Rand), ISAA, OFS PIA, TPIA. DANEEL was born in Prieska, Cape Province; son of Rev Richard Hurtley Daneel (1865-1937) of Bloemfontein and Cornelia Johanna Christina Cronje (1880-1939) (FS). His high school education was at Grey's College, Bloemfontein. He studied architecture at the University of the Witwatersrand. After graduating DANEEL practiced as an architect in South West Africa (Namibia) for five years before establishing a practice on his own account in Bloemfontein Orange Free State. In 1957 he is recorded as of address 1 Deane Avenue, Bloemfontein. The Daneel family eventually moved to Pretoria in 1964. In 1969 he is recorded as partner and principal of the practice DANEEL, SMIT & VILJOEN of address 6 DBS Building, Central Street, Pretoria, Transvaal. Daneel did work Bloemfontein, Pretoria and Durban. He had served as President of the Bloemfontein Rotary Club, was Life Member of the South African Association of Arts; Chair of the Bloemfontein Photographic and Cinematograph Society; Chair of the Youth Hostel Society; President of the Orange Free State Arts and Crafts Society. He married Ingeborg Elfriede Gertrud Maack in 1942. His death was in Pretoria from a major heart attack.
