The practice was started in 1951 by Jacob (Jaap) WOUDSTRA and Johan DE RIDDER in Pretoria. WOUDSTRA died in 1953 and DE RIDDER continued the practice, soon changing the name to JOHAN DE RIDDER ARCHITECT.
