[nee COETZEE] BArch (Pretoria); MArch 1996 (Pretoria); PhD (Arch) 2000 (Pretoria) Born in Pretoria, matriculating from Langenhoven High School in 1971. She was awarded a BArch with distinction by the University of Pretoria for her design discourse 'Hernuwing Wesfasade – Kerkplein' [Renewal West Façade – Church Square]. The Netherlands South Africa Foundation awarded her a study bursary for a year course at the Technische Hogerschool in Delft in restoration studies in 1980. She has been in practice since 1979, both in an individual capacity and partnership. From 1994 she has been guest lecturer in the Departments of Architecture and Cultural History of the University of Pretoria and the Department of Construction at the Pretoria Technikon (now Tshwane University of Technology). She was awarded a Master's degree in architecture in 1996 for her study 'Die invloed van die Arts and Crafts-beweging op die huishoudelike argitektuur in en om Pretoria' [The influence of the Arts and Crafts movement on domestic architecture in and around Pretoria] with Prof Dieter HOLM as study leader and in 2000 a Doctorate in Architecture for her study 'Grondleggende Argitekte van die Departement Openbare Werke in Transvaal tot 1910, hul werk en invloed' [Founding Architects of the Department of Public Works in the Transvaal until 1910, their work and influence] with Prof Dieter HOLM as study leader and Dr Karel BAKKER as co-promotor.
