Was born in Kulmbach in Germany and trained in Munich at the Technical University (ISAA mem list) from where he qualified with an Master's degree in architecture in 1933. He appears to have come to South Africa in 1936 and took the special qualifying examination at the University of the Witwatersrand in 1937 (together with J GLIKSMAN and W PABST), he was working for the firm of KALLENBACH, KENNEDY & FURNER by 1937 in Johannesburg and by 1942 his address was c/o Philip KARP in Johannesburg. In 1959 he was in partnership with GLIKSMAN (cf GLIKSMAN & AMSON) and their address was given as Box 5054, Johannesburg. AMSON retired in 1976.
