MURRAY, Keith

Born: 1946

Architect

Raised in Harare, Zimbabwe. A purist training at the University of Cape Town was leavened by a visit to the Far East, where he realized that svmbolism and romantic irrationalism were relevant. Tried unsuccessfully to escape Africa in 1976 by exploring Europe. Work in Zambia brought him back to Africa, eventually to return to Harare to join Architects Design Group, where he is still in partnership with Ken Lever. Strongly believes that architecture arises from a specific place, the landscape, climate, ghosts and gods, and that it should reinforce the individual identities of the users. Has plenty of other beliefs, but reserves the right to change them daily.
