Nothing is yet known of Davie's origins nor of his training. He was first mentioned in South Africa in 1926, working as a draughtsman for the PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT (Pretoria?) where drawings by him for the Children's Hospital in Durban, were executed. He was next recorded in 1934 practicing on his own account at the Southern Life building in Port Elizabeth. He had rejoined the PWD in Pretoria by April 1935 as an Architectural Assistant Grade 1. In 1959 he is still recorded with the PWD. By 1969 he is recorded as a member of the Cape Institute and living at 8 Innes Street, King Williams Town. Davie retired in 1977.
