Was born in Cathcart, Renfrew, Scotland. It is not yet certain when he came to South Africa but he was living and working as an architect in Boksburg in 1909. At some point he moved to Pietermaritzburg where he worked as a Provincial Roads Engineer. He married in Pietermaritzburg and died there; his address was latterly 140 King Edward's Avenue, Scottsville. ISAA 1927.
