WRIGHT, George Frederick

Born: ?
Died: 1934

Architect

A note in the Architect, Builder & Engineer (Feb 1920) reported that 'Runham and Wright of the PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT of the OFS ... have left Headquarters.' Runham transferred to another business but Wright transferred to Johannesburg on promotion in the Public Works Department. On registering with the Institute of South African Architects in 1927 his address was given as Kimberley. It appears that he made designs for the proposed town hall at Windsorton in 1928, probably his earliest job so far recorded. He appears to have been in practice in Kimberley with JP RUNHAM from 1930 until his death in 1934 (cf. ROGERS & WRIGHT; RUNHAM & WRIGHT). He transferred his membership from the TPIA to the OFSPIA in 1934.

TPIA 1927; ISAA 1927. (Watt 1985; ISAA mem list; SAAR Feb 1934:58-9)
