WITT, Otto EBorn: 1877 12 13
Was born in Greytown, Natal, the eldest son of Rev Otto Witt, 'sometime of Rorke's Drift and now of Sweden' (NWW 1906:220) - the original Swedish missionary at Rorke's Drift in Natal. Witt was educated in Stockholm, Sweden, and 'finished his architectural training in Stockholm where he was subsequently in the Architectural Department of a large factory in Sweden' (NWW 1906:220). He returned to Natal in 1903 and was in the office of WE ROBARTS until he began practice on his own account in 1903. By 1906 he was working in Durban from an address at Beangstrom's Buildings.
