WERNICH, Johannes Willem

Born: 1764
Died: ?

Surveyor

Wernich's baptismal record (1764) provides an approximate date for his birth. He was appointed a land surveyor at the Cape in about 1800 under LM THIBAULT, a post he held until 1814. He was apparently responsible for the first plans of the Drostdy in Cape Town in 1804, the design of which was taken over by Thibault.

He was responsible for the first drawings of Malmesbury.
