UECKERMANN, Charles WilliamBorn: 1856
Was born in Natal and educated in Heidelberg, Transvaal, which town his father helped found and named after his birthplace in Germany. Nothing is known of his training as an architect. According to the South African Who's Who (1910), he began practice as an architect in about 1882 and worked in Middelburg in the Transvaal from about 1891, 'where he built most of the prominent buildings' (SAWW 1910). Nothing is yet known about his buildings.
