TILL, Albert EdwinBorn: 1870 02 17
Died: 1942 05 20
Born in Torrington, Devon, England, the son of Thomas Till, architect and surveyor to the Rolle Estate, Devon, Till came to the Transvaal in 1891 and joined his brother JH TILL in partnership (cf TILL, JH & AE) with offices in Kroonstad and Johannesburg. Before 1908 the brothers designed and supervised about 25 churches for various denominations; AE Till appears to have been in charge of the Johannesburg office. He entered the competition for the Benoni Town Hall in 1918 but was unsuccessful. He registered with the Institute of South African Architects in 1927. Currently this is all that is known of Till.
