Was born in Pietermaritzburg, a son of the local postmaster. He was educated at St Charles College, Pietermaritzburg and articled to STOTT & KIRKBY from around 1904. He joined CH STOTT in partnership around 1907 after R KIRKBY had left the country (cf. STOTT & SULLIVAN). He lived latterly at 43 Sandringham, Gillespie Street in Durban; he appears to have worked mainly as a quantity surveyor in the practice. In 1959 his address was Stone Building, Chancery Lane off Smith Street, Durban.
