| | BRADFORD, Cyril DominicBorn: 1880 Died: ?Architect |
Was born in Rugby, England. His father, Thomas Bradford, was appointed Resident Engineer to the Zululand Railways and the family came to Natal in 1891. In 1895, aged fifteen, Bradford commenced articles with the architect WH POWELL, FRIBA, in Durban and 'eventually took over the business, in conjunction with his present partner' (NWW 1906:30). The Natal Who's Who (1906) listed several buildings on which he had worked with Powell: the Durban Public Baths (1891-93), Durban High School (1894) and the Colonial Offices in Pietermaritzburg (1895-1901). Bradford seems to have entered into partnership with S NOBLE (cf BRADFORD & NOBLE) in Durban about 1903 and, according to NWW (1906) took over Powell's business when WH POWELL (Jnr) left practice in Natal and perhaps the country as well in 1903. The partnership between Bradford and Noble ended about 1907. Bradford remained in Natal until about 1909, after which nothing further is known of him.
