Schoeman (1982:70) gives his name as SPENGLER. He worked in partnership with J Thornill COOK (cf COOK & SPINDLER) in Port Elizabeth from 1872 until 1883. They won the competition for the new Bloemfontein town hall in 1872. The building was not carried out to their design.
