| | SMAIL, David Ian HayBorn: 1903 09 19 Died: 1953 02 14Architect |
Trained in Cape Town from about 1923 to 1926, and joined STUCKE & HARRISON in 1934 in Johannesburg, becoming a partner in 1937 (cf. STUCKE, HARRISON & SMAIL). Stucke had died in 1931 and JE HARRISON retired in 1936, having been sole partner until his son, GM HARRISON joined him in 1932. Smail appears to have remained with the firm for the duration of his career. He left the partnership in 1952 and died the following year. He was buried in Montgomery Park in the West Park Cemetery in Johannesburg.
