Born: fl. 1834

'The first church of St George's, Cape Town ... was carried out to the design of Mr Skinner, Government Architect ... completed December 1834' (SAAR Mar 1929). This statement was made by HG TOMPKYNS in his review of ecclesiastical architecture in South Africa; this building is also, however, attributed to John SKIRROW. It appears that a W Skinner was Government Architect in Cape Town in about 1834.
