| | ROHDE, GustavBorn: fl. 1889
Architect |
Nothing is known of Rohde's training. He was in partnership with WITTE (cf ROHDE & WITTE) in Bloemfontein in about 1889, and was the architect of the Dutch Reformed Church building, Church and First Sts, Ladybrand according to Roodt (1987:105); the cornerstone of this building was laid in 1889. An article in De Ruiter (February 1948) gives the name of the architect of this building as Gustav ROODE. (De Ruiter Feb 1948, article by P de Waal; Roodt 1987; SA Jnl Cult Hist Jun 1993:48) All truncated references not fully cited in 'References' are those of Joanna Walker's original text and cited in full in the 'Bibliography' entry of the Lexicon.
