Was articled to Fred Beeston of Lincoln's Inn Fields in London for five years (1886-1891), attending lectures at University College, London under Professor Thomas Roger Smith. From 1891 to 1894 he was successively in the offices of Burmester & Gibbon of Great James St, of Thomas E Price in Gray's Inn and of Ernest Runtz, Walbrook. He was working in Beckenham, Kent when ordered abroad on account of ill health and in 1895 was appointed District Inspector of Newcastle and Dundee Division, PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT, Natal Government. Two years later he resigned and entered into partnership with FM KENT in 1897 (cf. KENT & PRICE) - Kent had been in Beeston's office. In partnership with Kent he was responsible for a number of Natal buildings. A few years after Kent's premature death in 1904, which occurred in Price's house West Lynn in Chase Valley, Price entered into partnership with EA AGUTTER (cf AGUTTER & PRICE) in Pietermaritzburg (1906-1907). After 1907 nothing more was recorded of Price in South Africa. In 1901 Price was elected a Fellow of the RIBA and was a member of the Natal Institute of Architects Council. For a list of his work see Kent & Price and Agutter & Price. FRIBA 1901; NIA. (FRIBA nom papers (19) 1901; Hillebrand 1975) All truncated references not fully cited in 'References' are those of Joanna Walker's original text and cited in full in the 'Bibliography' entry of the Lexicon.
