Nothing is currently known about Bishton's origins or training. When he registered with the Institute of South African Architects in 1928, he was living in Pretoria and a member of the Transvaal Provincial Institute of Architects working in the office of G FITZGERALD, Gresham Building, Pretoria. He left South Africa for Rhodesia (Zimbabwe) and by 1931/2 was working for the Public Works Department in Salisbury (Harare). In 1959 he is recorded as an absent member of the Transvaal Institute resident in Salisbury (Harare), Rhodesia (Zimbabwe).
