When Maitland registered with the Institute of South African Architects in 1927 his address was c/o J JACKMAN in Cape Town and he was living at Glenugie in Dunluce Avenue, Claremont, Cape Town. He worked for the Public Works department in Lusaka, Northern Rhodesia (Zambia) at some point. He died in Cape Town. ISAA 1927.
