LUNTZ, Abe

Architect


Luntz was born in South Africa, thirty-five years later he was living in Australia. From March 1932 to December 1933 he studied architecture at the University of the Witwatersrand and received nine months office experience before leaving in October 1934 to study at the University of Liverpool School of Architecture in England, where he remained until June 1937. He visited France, Egypt and Palestine between March and April 1935; Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany between July and September 1935. He returned to South Africa in 1938 where he registered as an architect and was elected an Associate member of the RIBA.

He married Ursula Von Seidel in June, 1941. They had one daughter in 1950, Ingrid.

He moved to Australia and went into Private Practice in 1961 in Essendon, Victoria, where he remained until his sudden death on 20th June, 1978, aged sixty-five. He died of heart disease. He is survived by his wife who is still living aged ninety-two (2012), and his daughter.
