Queen Anne Style


An Arts and Crafts allied revival of this mature style which sources the red brick houses of the mid c.17 under Dutch influence, rather than the Gothic and Tudor. Decoration was refined using Morris style interiors with stylized two dimensional qualities. It found popularity the Natal Midlands, notably Pietermaritzburg where good quality red clay bricks were produced.
